Celebrating Art and Artists

At By The Riverside, we love a good puzzle. A puzzle that presents itself in the form of antique furniture or heirloom collections and preserved collectibles from our client’s exciting travels. With these pieces in mind, we customise the remaining ethical and sustainable interiors to unlock a deep, emotional experience of the home.
Crafting a design language of our own with handmade and refurbished at the centre, BTRS weaves a design theme on and around the homemaker’s life story. We believe in making the best of what we have, curating and contextualising interiors on a plate while inviting economical design solutions. We love to engage in talks that further this design philosophy so we are always scouting similar talent and look forward to featuring them on this page. Our ultimate goal is to start the talk about eco-conscious designs.
Most of our creativity flows from our research about the art world and the aesthetic value of their designs. So we keep updating a part of it here. From textiles to furnishings and decor products, here’s what BTRS loves about Indian artists and their incredible work…

The Keybunch

Sharon DSouza, co-founder of The Keybunch, absolutely loves the beauty we find all around us everyday. She admires simple and colourful design, the kind that evolves over time and speaks volumes about the people who use that space. She is an interior stylist, a product designer and a decor blogger based in Pune, India. Her products reflect her love for the ‘Vintage Modern Decorating’ style, a term she coined to describe the beauty of homes that juxtapose modern against old things, for a gorgeous and unique style. Timeless too!
BTRS are equally passionate about antiques and love the amalgamation of vintage and modern in decor.

Jyamiti & Sea

Soumak Mukhopadhyay, founder of Goa-based brand Jyamiti & Sea, is an IT engineer turned photographer; who during the Covid-19 lockdown found a new passion in making concrete home decor products. A Bengali, born and brought up in Kolkata, he worked for almost a decade with Infosys in Bangalore and in Switzerland – Lugano and Basel – before deciding in 2013 to follow his passion in photography and later in decor products in November 2020.
BTRS loves how Jyamiti & Sea is changing the concept of concrete from a cold, dull and hard substance into a medium that can also showcase colourful and cheerful designs.

Anuperna

Amit Singha, founder and torchbearer of Anuprerna, aims to take the 35+ years old small endeavour to the global market. The artisanal sustainable textile brand is formed with the mission to support and empower the rural artisans, promote and preserve East India’s traditional crafts and textile and use of natural and sustainable fabric. Each trade contributes to creating a positive environment for the craftsman, education for their children and motivation for the next generation to continue the art form.
BTRS admires Anuperna’s beautiful ethical fabrics and sustainable handwoven textiles using indigenous weaves and Bengal techniques of weaving.
