Description :
When we were designing this beauty, somewhere we had in mind that we want to create something that gets passed on through generations. Something that becomes part of your family legacy.
And kitchen wares are what do get passed on. Think about cast iron skillets, mortar and pestles, vintage crockery and so many other stuff that get passed on from one generation to the next. Their value increases as they age, doesn't it?
Our Nostalgia Cutlery Holder is meant to be that. This is one heavy duty product that should mature with time.
While we try our best to maintain consistency with the product photos, the colours of the terrazzo stones might vary to an extent.
An amalgamation of not just terrazzo floors of old villas, but also the bright colours of Indo-Portuguese Houses of Goa, what goes into a making of our Dreamy Nostalgia coasters?
Other than the cement, sand, pigments and marble / granite pieces, a lot actually.
Our artisans prepare the concrete with utmost eye for the colour, pour and set it and then take it out of the mould the following day. The hand polishing happens first. The machine polishing happens the next day. Any chipping during polishing is fixed and each piece is hand polished once again to give them the soft feel around the edges. All this while each piece goes through a curing process as well so that they can withstand heat and liquid when you use them. Somewhere around the 5th or 6th day of its life, each coaster is hand coated with a sealant to make them liquid resistant and to give it a slight shine, while at the same time maintaining the feel of concrete.
We do have rejected pieces in the process. They find their life as part of some other pieces. After all, we need to be as sustainable as we can be.
So you see, when you get home a set, you know that each coaster has been lovingly created by our artisans so that you love them at first sight.
This is a set of 4 coasters.
